Clean Green! is a site for the discussion of natural or organic household cleaners. These environmentally friendly cleaning products are often simple, everyday items that can be purchased at any grocery store.

Clean Green! is run by Kathi Sharpe (yours truly). I am a (highly) conservative Christian who believes we should be good stewards of the earth God has given us. My husband and I pastor a church plant, and I do some freelance writing. We have three beautiful children who are all grown now (at least in their own minds). In my free time I care for our fur and fin babies, and poke around on the internet. If you’d like to know more about me, check out my blog, I am Healed!

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE:

We should note that although these items and products are considered “safe”, they are by no means completely harmless. For instance, baking soda is a common, everyday household product that is also a great natural cleaner. Most of us eat a little bit of baking soda every day. However, if you eat too much of it, you can die. Borax, another natural cleaner, can cause eye, respiratory, and skin irritation. Although it’s a natural substance and great household product, you’ll want to keep it away from children and pets. Many essential oils carry risks for pregnant women and pets.

Virtually all of the products discussed here carry serious health risks if you are allergic to them, or if you do not use them properly. Take the time to investigate any health concerns before using.
The moral of the story? Use good common sense.

All the tips I post have been tested in my own home by yours truly (unless otherwise clearly indicated). The reason I tested them is because others told me, probably because others told them. That said, I can’t guarantee that a product that worked in my home will work in yours. I also can’t guarantee that a product that works well on one surface will work well on another, nor can I guarantee that a product will not damage surfaces or items. For example, I have no way to test cleaners on granite countertops, as I don’t own them! Again: Use good common sense. Spot-test all products and have a conversation with applicable manufacturers when in doubt.
